EXP 3: 18 Sketch Perspectives

I have chosen the 3rd perspective. Design will utilise different ceiling heights to define the different spaces. Different ceiling heights also provides fluidity within the building. Concept of interaction and transparency between the spaces is reiterated.

EXP 2: 18 Axonometrics

Image
NIEMEYER:  Repetition and difference. Rhythmic yet dynamic, similarly to the columns of Niemeyer's Mondadori building. SEJIMA:  Enclosed space with various openings to enable natural light to filter in. Sense of comfort within a public space.  NIEMEYER: Heavy geometric shapes, supported by thin columns. Inspired by use of heavy material concrete and elongated columns of Mondadori building.  SEJIMA: Multiple openings. Fluid transitioning between open spaces. SEJIMA:  Shifting cubes. Provides space for skylights. NIEMEYER: Frames a space. Inspired by the columns which surround the glass block in the middle of the Mondodori Building. 1. Chosen combined axonometric: Both axonometrics feature openings. The openings of axonometric on the left function as a transition between different spaces, whilst the one on the right is an entrance to one space. Hence, when combined, this axonometric focuses on transitioning for both the comm

EXP 2: CONCEPTS

Mondadori Building OSCAR NIEMEYER Irregular and curved shapes imitate the natural environment. There is a direct reference of the environment in the architecture. Material: Uses concrete to create irregular shapes. Despite the fragility of the elongated columns, the buildings still appears sturdy and strong. It contributes to the monumentality of the building. The water that surrounds the building visually elongates the thin columns. These reflections essentially gives visual continuity. Through the repetition of columns and implementation of unequal arches, Niemeyer creates a form which is both rhythmic and dynamic in nature.  Building appears to have several openings due to the columns. Fluid transition between interior and exterior.  New Museum of Contemporary Art KAZUYO SEJIMA Urban setting: Whilst the stacked cubes resembles the geometry of nearby constructions, due to the shifting of the stacking and the variation of cube sizes, it st
